Solomon Islands Expedition, September 24th - October 3rd (9 nights)

The Solomon Islands are a bucket-list destination for many adventure-seekers. Featured on David Attenborough’s Blue Planet for their pristine marine ecosystems and abundant wildlife, they are a rare wilderness unlike any other on Earth. In this remote, volcanic island chain, the locals continue to live a life of sustenance, unaffected by our modern distractions and following a pace set by the movements of the ocean.

We are very excited to be leading an expedition into this beautiful corner of the world, where we’ll get the opportunity to slow down and sync with the ocean village pace, spending each day exploring the cultural and natural beauty on offer.

Our good friend, and AIDA freediving Instructor Trainer, Lucas Handley, has lived on and off in the Solomon Islands for over 10 years. Lucas has mentored us in preparation for this trip, providing valuable insights and local connections which we are sure will enrich your experience on the Islands.

• 🌍 Location: Nggatokae Island, Solomon Islands.

• 💸 Cost: $4,195 including dorm accommodation with private bungalows available at extra cost

• 🤷‍♀️ Who: We welcome freedivers of all levels and experience!

  • Complete your level AIDA 2, 3 and 4 freedive certification at a leisurely pace while on the island, or take depth training to 50m and beyond with some of Australia’s deepest competitive freedivers.

  • For the spearos - beginner to advanced divers will be well catered for, however divers who can hunt at depths of 15m+ will experience opportunities on bigger and better fish. Want to learn? We’ll show you the way.

• 🛏️ Accommodation: We’ll be staying in a beautiful family-owned resort located in a protected pocket of the island where the rainforest meets the sea. Shared dorm accommodation is included with option to upgrade to private bungalows. Our accommodation fronts right onto the coral reef edge with depths starting at 1m meter and dropping away to below 100 meters of crystal clear water.

  ✈️ How to get there: Fly into Seghe Airport via Honiara. Flights run daily from Brisbane to Honiara.

  From Seghe Airport we will arrange for you to be transferred via fast boat to your waterfront accommodation.

• 🌞 Weather: Tropical temps of 25-30 degrees during the day and balmy 29-30 deg water.

• 🍽️ Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by resort chefs using local, village-grown ingredients. Our own catch of the day will feature prominently in many meals and there’ll be opportunity to get involved in cooking with local ingredients if desired.

• 🏝️ Additional activities: In addition to the unlimited diving experiences on offer, there are an abundance of land-based activities to get involved in that will make the perfect rest days:

  • Daily breathwork and stretching to prepare for the day’s diving.

  • Village Tours - Meet the locals and experience the warmth of the island’s village communities.

  • Island hiking and exploration - The island is peppered with waterfalls nestled among beautiful, lush rainforest.

  • Wreck diving on WW2 ship and plane wrecks - Solomon Islands was the location of many major naval battles of WW2 and there are spectacular ship and plane wrecks scattered throughout the area to be explored both underwater and on the islands.

  • Morovo Lagoon exploration - explore the largest inland lagoon system in the world; home to manta rays, sharks, dolphins and abundant fish life.

  • Bulo Island cave diving, swim-throughs and coral gardens
