AIDA 1 Freediving Discovery
The AIDA 1 Freediving course is an introduction to Freediving and a great starting point for people wanting to discover their Freediving abilities. It is suitable for people with limited or no snorkelling and underwater experience with a desire to gain more.
AIDA 1 is a one day immersion designed to be fun, informative and explore your breath holding abilities. In this course we cover the basics of breath hold physiology, safe diving protocols and techniques to help you remain calm under water.
If you would love to spend more time with marine life or find a new level of calm in stressful situations, this course is a great starting point for your journey.
These courses are currently being instructed at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park.
The cost of the course is $350.
WHAT YOU LEARN in AIDA 1
Basic freediving physiology
Relaxation and mental techniques
Skills to hold your breath for 1 minute and 30 seconds plus
Basic equalisation techniques
Duck dives and finning technique
Rescue and buddying skills
WHAT TO BRING
Fins, mask and snorkel
Wetsuit appropriate for the conditions - something to keep you warm in the pool
Weight and weight belt (can be provided if you do not own these)
PREREQUISITES
Students should have basic swimming skills and be able to swim 200m without stopping.
Students should be over 18 years of age, or have parent/guardian's approval if between 16 and 18 years of age.
